Intravenous (IV) therapy is a means of delivering vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients into the body while bypassing the metabolic processing effects of the digestive tract.
The main reason people seek IV therapy in our practice is that they find it helpful to quickly improve their energy or heal from a stress state like an injury or infection. There are also more specialized IVs such as hydrogen peroxide and ozone therapy that deal with oxidative stress in the body, and have their own merits.
Our doctors use IV therapies as an adjunct to their care plan for patients on an individual basis, where other treatment may not be available or effective.
Commonly used IVs in our clinic include:
- Myer’s cocktail
- Alpha lipoic acid
- Hydrogen peroxide
- EDTA for chelation
Note that IV therapies are an optional therapy that have a positive benefit with a very low adverse event rate. They are not used in the treatment of any disease or particular symptom and are purely for health optimization.
